Sametime Shares Pop-banger ‘Golden’

Sametime (brothers Tim and Sam Aitken) return with a sexy new single ‘Golden’ and announce a run of tour dates throughout July. On this new track, the duo from the Sunshine Coast seamlessly weave elements of electronic soundscapes with driving beats further highlighting them as gifted songwriters with an ear for catchy pop melodies and tasty narratives.

‘Golden’ shines with a delicious glittery backbeat and sultry vocals which ooze over production that pays homage to artists such as The Weeknd and Charlie Puth.

“The theme for the song was sex. It was an area we hadn’t explored musically and with our music growing and maturing as we are, it felt like the best next step…..plus sex is fun. We wanted the song to be about somebody who has an insatiable appetite and is ‘Golden’, the best of the best. We drew from personal experiences and put them on steroids to make it more interesting, something we do a fair bit when writing. It’s about somebody that knows exactly what they want and isn't afraid to get it. It’s from the perspective of someone that loves that energy and wants to do everything they can to facilitate it.” Sametime

Working with prolific songwriter, Sydney producer and long term collaborator Glades (Nicole Millar, Thomston, Baynk), Sametime wrote the track over zoom from their hometown on the Sunshine Coast with mastering by APRA Award winner Paul Blakey (Amy Shark) at 12th & Vine Post, Gold Coast.

“We were really into The Weeknds latest music and themes that he uses. We’ve written a fair bit about nights out and love/hate relationships so we wanted to try something different. We wanted to explore sex and lust thematically and we came up with the idea of “my baby’s golden”. We wanted the song to sound physical about something physical. The Weeknd was our main reference because he’s currently the best.

Like the last couple of releases this song was written and recorded remotely over Zoom. We spent months trying to perfect the song, going back and forth over multiple sessions. We eventually wanted another brain involved to bring something different to the table. We brought in Ned Houston who is a great songwriter who we’ve worked with before over the years. Ned quickly made an impact bringing in new melodies and lyrics that took the song to the level we wanted. We’ve been sitting on this song for so long now in order to get it right so we’re so energised to be releasing it.” Sametime

After a little over 2 years of sitting at home, Sametime will be returning to the stage for their ‘Golden Tour’ in July and August. The brothers started the tour on the Sunshine Coast at Solbar, a venue they’ve been playing at for over 6 years in June, and will then head south to Wollongong, Terrigal and Sydney. They’ve designed a live show packed full of energy from start to finish!

“We set a goal right before COVID took over that we wanted to be the best live act in the country. We’re incredibly chuffed now that we’re able to get out and about in front of new eyes and ears. Getting out and playing consistently for a whole month is only going to take us up another level. It’s going to be so much fun and we’re so excited to be taking our show interstate.” Sametime
