Siobhan Cotchin Releases Country-Grunge Track 'Fill My Cup'

Having found hope and foundation in previous release ‘Growing Pains’, whilst exploring existential dread & the struggle to find her place, Siobhan Cotchin has returned now, with an introspective & inward reaching track diving even deeper into those thoughts, with ‘Fill My Cup’.

On the surface, this country-grunge inspired song carries singer-songwriter traits throughout, but reaching beneath the melodies ‘Fill My Cup’ is a song for those feeling lost in their own skin, struggling to make meaning in a world of constant change and upheaval. Cotchin’s lyricism shines across the stanzas, pouring out a tale of despondency - as one would when sitting at a dusty bar across from a barman.

Siobhan Cotchin has found herself with a bustling mid-2022 alongside the release of previous sparkling indie-alt, coming-of-age inspired single ‘Growing Pains’. Nominated for a Western Australian Music Award ‘Song of the Year’ award (having won the 2021 award), alongside performances with Thornbird (Vikki Thorn of The Waifs), The Grogans, Bob Evans (Jebediah), as well as landing a BIGSOUND 2022 slot, she managed to sneak into the studio with Sam Ford (POND, Abbe May, Psychedelic Porn Crumpets) at his Tone City Recording Studio to finish off ‘Fill My Cup’. The track also lands as her debut release via Sam Ford’s Tone City Records label, who have just signed a distribution deal with Ingrooves Music Group (Universal Music Group).

Taking heed from trailblazers such as Kasey Musgraves & Lucy Dacus, Siobhan Cotchin is the Australian front-runner of powerful women, shaping their own sound around their influences, paying no attention to preconceived notions or genre-barriers.

“‘Fill My Cup’ is a song about being exhausted from life and wanting to know if there’s anything more than what we already have right now. It’s about my fear of not reaching my potential and trying to understand my place in the world. I have written a lot of songs about this existential dread that I think everyone feels and it really helps me cope with those thoughts. I’ve also always wanted to write a drinking song that goes a little deeper and more introspective, but is also fun and anthemic. This song is for anyone who feels a little lost and is struggling to find meaning in these insane times. It has been a crazy few years and I want people to know that they’re not alone.” - Siobhan Cotchin

Whilst still just 22 years old, this self-certified Rock n’ Roll Cowgirl is turning heads across Western Australia, with her knack for the vulnerable, honest and raw - infused with contagious country-grunge inspired melodies. With support from tastemakers triple j, triple j Unearthed, RTR FM, Spotify, Pilerats, WAM & more, Siobhan Cotchin’s accolades and powerful compositions are reminiscent of a songwriter much deeper into their career than the precocious front woman would be expected to be.
